Mauritius is serviced by a well developed road network with a dual carriageway connecting the north of the country via Port Louis (the Capital City) to the south and the international airport.
There is frequent bus service throughout the island as most Mauritians commute on the 2,800 buses belonging to the state-owned transport company, private companies and co-operative societies. Bus service is ensured between 5 am and 7 pm in most areas of the island.
Taxis are readily available at designated areas in all major cities and villages, bearing yellow plates with drivers often fluent in several languages.
